FAQs
How should I supply artwork?
Artwork should be supplied on a CD and saved as a Tiff in Lab colour. The document should be
actual size and if possible about 250 Mb. We can scan from your original if necessary.
How should I wash my digitally printed fabric?
We recommend that all digitally printed fabrics are dry cleaned.
How should I lay out my design?
As there can be a little movement in the weave of certain very soft cloths, we cannot guarantee
that this will not in some circumstances affect the print. Therefore we suggest that borders are laid
out, where possible, parallel to the selvedge of the fabric. Also, when engineering designs to a
garment shape, allowance should be made for this. We advise you to check the printing width of
the fabric before you do your layout, as all our fabrics vary.
Should I allow for shrinkage ?
As all fabric is steamed and washed there may be a degree of shrinkage, usually about 5-10% but
in some cases more, please check with us and make sure you order enough fabric to cover this.
Can I supply my own cloth?
The cloth needs to be pre-coated for digital printing. We have a range of coated fabrics in stock
and we can supply further cloths to order. In very exceptional circumstances it may be possible to
have your cloth coated.
Does the fabric have to be washed off?
Our cloth is steamed to fix the dye and then washed which removes any excess and gives the
cloth back it’s inherent qualities.
On heavier fabrics, if your cloth is purely for presentation purposes where the handle is not crucial,
it can be possible to steam but not wash the fabric. This may be preferable if you wish to keep the
fabric very flat and is perfectly adequate as long as it is handled with care, remains dry and does
not undergo long-term use.
